Switchbacks goalkeeper Christian Herrera will presumably be the man in goal for Colorado Springs for the foreseeable future as the Colorado Rapids recalled 19-year-old keeper Adam Beaudry, both teams announced on Thursday.
Beaudry, who is from Castle Pines, was brought in on loan to replace Herrera, who was dealing with an MCL sprain following the club’s home loss on July 4.
Beaudry made his debut on July 19 and started six regular-season matches for Colorado Springs (seven including USL Jägermeister Cup play) and earned shutouts in two of the matches (three including Jägermeister Cup). He helped lead Colorado Springs to four regular-season wins and a win against Texoma FC in the Jägermeister Cup on July 26. He made 11 saves during his seven appearances.
Beaudry played for the United States in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2023. Just last week, he competed with the United States U-20 men’s national team in a pair of international friendlies and hopes to be on the team for this year’s U-20 World Cup later this month.
“Adam is a fantastic young goalkeeper with a big future,” Switchbacks sporting director Stephen Hogan said in a release. “I want to thank the Rapids for the short-term loan, and we want to thank Adam for his professionalism and maturity beyond his years.”
