Early morning house fire in north Colorado Springs sends child to hospital

A child is in the hospital for minor smoke inhalation after a house fire on the city’s north side broke out early Tuesday morning, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
The fire happened at 7614 Safari Circle, near Briargate and North Union boulevards, around 5 a.m. and was quickly extinguished.

All the occupants managed to escape from the home, and a dog and cat were rescued, the Fire Department said. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital.
