‘Suspicious packages’ found on Fort Carson

Experts determined the suspicious packages found Thursday underneath Crows Foot Bridge on Fort Carson were not a threat.

The explosive ordnance technicians from the 71st Ordnance Group investigated the packages and after they were reported and they have since been disposed of, Fort Carson officials said in a statement.

“The Fort Carson community is grateful to EOD technicians and first responders who reacted quickly to the incident and who continue to keep the Mountain Post safe,” the statement said.

All operations on base have returned to normal.

Community members were advised to stay away from the Crows Foot Bridge area on Butts Road while technicians investigated. The bridge is 184 feet and has four lanes of traffic, according to Fort Carson.
