Colorado Springs fusion eatery has been rebranded as Ambli Kitchen + Bar | Table Talk

Teresa Farney, the gazette
Pariza Mehta, Kelly Morrison and Ricardo Morffin, owners of Ambli Global Cuisine, 5278 N. Nevada Ave., are reintroducing the eatery as Ambli Kitchen + Bar. At the same time, the trio have switched up the menu with dishes that still honor the concept of worldly fusion dishes, but with a broader range of prices.
For instance, in the Bites & Starters menu category, there are seven choices, with six of the dishes offered as a choice between two servings or four.
On a recent visit, we selected the Portuguese garlic prawns (two for $12 or four for $24) and the chimichurri lamb lollies (two for $14 or four for $28). We went for the two-servings size to share. The portions of the shrimp and lamb chops were plenty of food for each of us to have a delicious sampling.
The extra-large shrimp was bathed in tomato garlic beurre blanc, topped with grilled veggies and served on a rice croquette. The two lamb chops were grilled to a perfect medium rare. The bone-in, grass-fed lamb chops had been marinated in a flavorful chimichurri mixture and garnished with tart pomegranate seeds and balsamic glaze.
Longtime Colorado Springs chef opens Latin-style tapas eatery | Table Talk
On the Latin Flair portion of the menu, we tried the birria tacos. Again, we had the choice of one ($6) or two tacos ($12). One serving provided a plentiful bite of silky braised brisket served on a cheese-crusted corn tortilla topped with an avocado salad and pickled onions. The rich beef consommé for dipping the taco was served on the side.
Other menu choices included dips, salads, sushi, sandwiches and entrees. Generous entrees range from $24 for fish and chips to $48 for spicy paella, either carne (filet, chicken, chorizo and lamb merguez-style sausage) or seafood (PEI mussels, shrimp and branzino).
As is chef Morffin’s style, all courses are beautifully plated. If you have not experienced a dining journey at Ambli, do yourself a favor: Book a table and bring your appetite. By having the option of selecting several small plates, you get the full spectrum of the spectacular- looking and tasting dishes Morffin is sending from the kitchen.
Happy hour, in the bar and lounge, is 4-6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Enjoy $5-off dips, salads and sandwiches from the new menu during happy hour. Dinner is 4:30-9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 4:30-9:30 Fridays and Saturdays. Details: 308-719-5579, amblidenver.com.

Here are three new places to check out:
• Marigold & Go in the Creekwalk shopping center, 140 E. Cheyenne Road, has opened, serving breakfast and lunch. The business is an extension of Marigold Café at 4605 Centennial Blvd., which supplies the new spot with its popular freshly baked goods including pastries, desserts, cakes and breads. The hours are 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
Visit facebook.com/ marigoldcafeandbakery.
• Dad’s Donuts, 29 E. Moreno St., is the sweet spot to find 109-layer cronuts, which are a marriage of a doughnut and a flaky croissant. They are a delight to eat with a perfect mashup of buttery, flaky-croissant and light-as-air doughnut. It’s not surprising the little shop has trouble keeping up with the demand. Hours are 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, or until the doughnuts are gone. Details: 719-886-3237, dadsdonuts.com.
• Elephant Thai, 4703 N. Academy Blvd., is the second Thai restaurant by Suwanna Sumnieng Meyer, who also owns Chaang Thai, 7525 N. Academy Blvd. The new location is a larger space with a patio. The same Thai flavors can be enjoyed at both restaurants, but Meyer is adding a cocktail menu to the Elephant Thai location. Beer and wine are offered at Chaang Thai.
Another difference between the two eateries is a selection of Thai street foods offered at the Elephant Thai spot, “like you would get in Bangkok,” Meyer said.
The hours at both restaurants are 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Details for Elephant Thai: 719-597-1175, elephantthaicos.com. Details for Chaang Thai: 719-594-4471, chaangthaicos.com.
