Christian Murdock, The Gazette
A wildfire burning on the north side of Pueblo formed a 100-foot column of smoke about 7 p.m. before dying down to burn through trees near Fountain Creek.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said the fire has burned around 107 acres and was 80% contained as of 11:07 a.m. Saturday. No structures have burned, according to Pueblo fire officials.
The fire prompted evacuations for some residents and a multiple-unit response, according to the Pueblo Fire Department. Those evacuations have been shifted to pre-evacuation status as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The fire was burning near the intersection of Jerry Murphy Road and Vision Hills Parkway, Tim Trujillo with Pueblo Fire said. Fire crews from departments across the county responded to assist and crews were monitoring the fire Friday evening.
Helicopters were also called in to help fight the fire.
The evacuations effected a half mile north of 1945 Overton Rd. a social media post from the Pueblo County Sheriff said.
