Veterinary office destroyed in fire east of Colorado Springs, 2 cats missing

The Colorado Equine Veterinary Services clinic near Peyton was leveled by a fire early Monday morning.
Office staff said two cats were still missing after the fire engulfed an administrative building on Hanks Grove Road. The barn housing horses at the facility was unharmed, said a staff member Monday afternoon.

In addition to the Peyton Fire Protection District, crews from Calhan, Falcon, Ellicott and Black Forest also responded to the fire during freezing and windy conditions.
The staff member said all horses boarded at the facility were safe.
