Denver Broncos officially hire Jim Leonhard, Pete Carmichael to coaching staff | Colorado Sunshine

Where the good news shines

The Denver Broncos on Wednesday announced two additions to Sean Payton’s coaching staff.

Denver named Pete Carmichael as senior offensive assistant and Jim Leonhard as defensive pass game coordinator/defensive backs.

Carmichael spent 12 years alongside Payton and 15 total in New Orleans as the offensive coordinator. The Saints posted a top-five scoring offense in eight of Carmichael’s 15 seasons.

Leonhard returns to Denver after playing 16 games at defensive back for the Broncos in 2012. He joined the University of Wisconsin coaching staff in 2016 and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2017.

In Leonhard’s six seasons guiding the defense, the Badgers ranked in the top five in the nation in total defense.
