Switchbacks notebook: Colorado Springs falls in third preseason game, Michee Ngalina returns to USL Championship
Following wins against Barca Academy and Phoenix College this past week, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks suffered their first preseason loss to league opponent Sacramento Republic FC 4-1 in Tucson, Ariz. Thursday.
Newcomer forward Quentin “Quenzi” Huerman scored the lone goal for Colorado Springs, his second of the preseason.
The club will face rival New Mexico United to finish its run of preseason matches in Arizona Saturday.
USL Championship Eastern Conference club Hartford Athletic is starting to look very familiar.
Now led by former Colorado Springs coach Brendan Burke, Hartford has landed a slew of former Switchbacks players the latest being former forward Michee Ngalina whose signing was announced Thursday.
Ngalina scored 22 goals in 2021 and 2022 for Colorado Springs. He joins a growing list of former Colorado Springs players to sign with Harford this season including forwards Romario Williams and Deshane Beckford, midfielders Beverely Makangila and Jay Chapman and defender Triston Hodge.
