Kickin’ It with Kiz: Hey, Broncos Country! You cheering for Christian McCaffrey or against Taylor Swift in the Super Bowl?

Rooting interest. It’s hard for me to forgive a team that handed the Broncos a 55-10 loss in the Super Bowl. So I guess I’m cheering for the Chiefs, and hoping the victory makes coach Andy Reid decide to retire.

-C.G., Ogden, Utah

Kiz: Wow. That blowout loss to the Niners was 33 years ago. Guess a true-blue fan that bleeds orange never forgets, eh? But know what might be more painful for Broncos Country if San Francisco wins it all? The reminder our local football team might be ready to raise the Lombardi Trophy again if only Kyle Shanahan had gotten the head coaching gig when Denver had a chance to hire the Son of the Mastermind.

Shake it off. Never root against Taylor Swift. She is great. But if the Chiefs never win another game again, I will be happy. Go Niners!

-Derek, ready for it

Kiz: Hey, if I’m not mistaken, don’t Ed and Lisa McCaffrey have a kid playing for the Niners or something?

Who? Never heard of her. Is Swift the halftime performing act or something?

-Jeff, Paso Robles, Calif.

Kiz: C’mon, man. Everybody knows T-Swizzle is bigger than football. She is the force that makes the sun rise in the morning. But forget the Chiefs and Niners. There is a legit rooting interest for Broncos Country in the Super Bowl. A hometown Denver team — Earth, Wind & Fire — is going to steal the halftime show. Guaranteed.

QB or not QB. Kiz, I’m a huge fan of yours and an even bigger Broncos fan ever since I was a kid in the 1980s, because they wore orange and blue, the same colors as my soccer team. Congratulations on moving to The Gazette, a better paper in my opinion. I love and agree with your take on the Broncos trading cornerback Pat Surtain to go get the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft and taking quarterback Caleb Williams from USC. Do whatever it takes with a bold move to forget about a dumb move (Russell Wilson).

-Jake, Wichita, Kans.

Kiz: You know what Wilson never fully grasped until it was too late? A fan base spoiled by John Elway and Peyton Manning is tougher on quarterbacks than Khalil Mack and Maxx Crosby.

Trade up for Williams? Kiszla must be smoking something not legal. That idea is idiotic. The Broncos have made many bad decisions and this would be the worst.

-Randy, has nose for trouble

Kiz: The staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters might be a bunch of knuckleheads. But we know this much: Unless the Broncos can petition the NFL to relocate in a division not ruled by Patrick Mahomes, our local NFL team isn’t winning anything with Jarrett Stidham as the starting quarterback.

And today’s parting shot is… from a loyal reader excited to come along and follow my new adventures as a sports columnist at The Denver Gazette.

Kiz would (and should) have an audience, even if he wrote on the back of a napkin. Looking forward to more wit and wisdom in The Gazette!
