The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will debut a spirit song Friday before tip-off of the women’s home basketball game against Black Hills State University.

The game starts at 5:30 p.m., with the Mountain Lions men's team taking on Black Hills State at 7:30 p.m. at the Gallogly Events Center.

Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak said the spirit song is a way to build excitement during sports events and other activities on campus, according to a UCCS news release. John Standish of City Tracks produced the spirit song. The song consists of a clapping rhythm accompanied by a chant.

The UCCS Pep Band will perform sections of the spirit song during games until late in the spring semester, when the entire song will be scored for instruments.
