The Switchbacks have signed 18-year old Real Colorado Academy midfielder Damen Marcu pending league and USSF approval, according to a news release Friday by the team.

The Arvada native is set to join Colorado Springs after spending time with the Colorado Rapids Academy team. Prior to that, Marcu was with Real Colorado.

While playing for Real Colorado, Marcu made back-to-back United States Soccer Development Academy national rinals appearances and was named to the starting 11 for the Central Conference.

In January 2016, Marcu was named to the U-18 national pool for the U.S. national team.

Marcu has trained with Colorado Springs for the past couple of years, according to the release.

The signing comes off the heels of the Switchbacks announcing the release of midfielder Chris James.
