The Colorado Springs band Woodshed Red is heavy on the strings, with four-fifths of the band playing fiddle, bass, guitar and mandolin and the remaining member on drums. The band, formed in May 2013, prefers to call its brand of toe-tapping music "Funky Dance-Grass," a jamming mix of rock, bluegrass, funk and blues. It plays original music as well as a few covers, such as Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, The Beatles and Pink Floyd. The band is Rob Fulton on guitar/vocals, Jason Gilmore on mandolin, Craig Haughton on upright bass, Skye Lewis on drums, and Deirdre McCarthy on violin. This is the fourth in the Gazette's Set List series focusing on local bands.
