Hey all you heroes, it’s time to put on dress shoes with your red cape.The Pikes Peak Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking nominations of everyday folks to name Hometown Heroes.Four people, one animal and one business will be honored at an April 2 banquet at Antlers Hilton.Yes, even the pet gets a dinner invite.So, tell on the neighbor who went to Haiti to help disaster victims. Or the dog that bit the burglar trying to break into the family’s home. Or the tech company that taught employees CPR.Winners will be chosen from five categories: Youth (under 18); Adult; Military (active or retired); Community Service; and Community Partner.Nomination deadline is Feb. 15.A winner will be profiled weekly in The Gazette’s “Your Space” column on Tuesdays from Feb. 23 to March 30.Nonheroes can also be VIPs by entering a random drawing online at gazette.com to win two seats at the dinner, with “limo” pickup in the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle used at disaster scenes.Go to gazette.com/redcross to enter.Know a hero?
