Two Harrison School District 2 elementary schools, Turman and Centennial, have received an Action for Healthy Kids Game On grant for this school year.

The grants of $1,000 each are funded by GoGo squeeZ, the makers of natural squeezable applesauce and yogurt. Fifty grants were awarded in 16 states for 2016-2017.

The program is intended to expand student access to physical activity and healthy foods in school, improve knowledge and behaviors around healthy snacking, and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home.

The grants can be used for physical education, active indoor and outdoor recess, classroom energizers, walking and running clubs, and before- and after-school programs, supplemental nutrition education, school gardens, taste tests, healthy snacking and healthy classroom celebrations.
