After giving up five power-play goals in Saturday’s 7-2 loss, Colorado College rightly focused on its penalty kill for much of Monday’s 100 minutes of ice time.
“It was obviously something that needed to be addressed,” CC coach Mike Haviland said. “We have to stay out of the (penalty) box and our kill has to be much better.”
The Tigers worked on keeping their formation, closing off shooting lanes and fronting their assigned skater. Too often, the CC penalty killers were caught turning their back, allowing the North Dakota player to find openings and create scoring chances.
