A short film on bullying and the power of connection debuts Wednesday night from The Geek Think Films, an endeavor started by the city’s only school specializing in gifted education, Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning.

“Dear Universe” premieres 6 p.m. Wednesday at Icon Cinema, 1818 Spring Water Place in Colorado Springs. The event is free, and the public is invited.

This is the third production from the film company the K-8 charter school in Colorado Springs School District 11 started. A trailer is available at https://youtu.be/AgCcSTNiZFw

The fictional story portrays the connection between a girl from the 1880s as she writes letters to her present-day friend. The pair share experiences that transcend their own time period.

AcademyACL students in seventh and eighth grade were responsible for the directing, cinematography, acting, producing, screen writing and editing, under the guidance of Language Arts teacher, Anthony Szpak.
