Store evacuated after bomb threat

Shoppers at a Walmart store in Colorado Springs were cleared from the building Saturday evening while police investigated a telephoned bomb threat.

By 10 p.m. police were wrapping up a search of the store. No bomb had been found.

Police said the evacuation of the store at Platte Avenue and Chelton Road was a precaution, but not an indication the threat was credible.

Bomb-sniffing dogs were sent to the store to ensure no bomb was inside. The store was closed until the check was complete, police said.

Because the store is huge, the bomb check, which began after 7 p.m., took hours.
