A 1,000-foot water slide is coming to Colorado Springs.
Slide the City will set up shop at S. 21st St. and Lower Gold Camp Road, next to the Bear Creek Dog Park, on Aug. 20. Slide the City is stopping in Colorado Springs as part of its tour to cities across the U.S. and Canada, bringing a massive inflated vinyl slide.
The event also includes a block party with live music, food and other activities, according to the company's website. Participants are given an inner tube, wrist band and mouth guard, and are allowed three slides during the time period of their choice.
The dog park will be closed the day of the event, according to a press release from El Paso County. Park staff and volunteers will work on maintenance, including mowing the grass, upgrading trails and repairing eroded spots. To volunteer with dog park maintenance, contact Kyle Melvin, central district maintenance supervisor, at KyleMelvin@ElPasoCo.com.
To register for the Slide the City, go to slidethecity.com/location/colorado-springs. Cost is $35.
