Don Stump, principal of The Classical Academy North Elementary school, this week announced his plans to retire at the end of this school year.

Stump has worked for 16 years at TCA and 46 years in the field of education. He started at TCA in 2002 as a substitute teacher and in 2004 became the first principal at Central Elementary. He's been at North Elementary for the past four years.

He was recognized as Titan of the Year in 2013, an annual award for someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to inspire and encourage students.

"Whether Don was busy recounting to kindergartners stories of life growing up in Alaska, leading his staff with kindness and loyalty, mentoring the President, or guiding students through their elementary years and beyond, Don has unfailingly represented TCA’s mission and vision," TCA President Russ Sojourner wrote in a letter to the community.
