No one was injured Monday in a shooting involving a Colorado Springs police officer in a neighborhood near South Murray Boulevard and Airport Road, police said.

The gunfire was reported about noon in the 300 block of Longfellow Drive, said Jacqueline Kirby, spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

A man was taken into custody, but Kirby declined to say what charges he might face.

The Sheriff's Office will investigate the shooting in accordance with Police Department policy. Shootings involving law enforcement officers typically are investigated by a neutral agency to avoid a conflict of interest.
