New Summit Charter Academy, a proposed charter school pushing to open next fall in Academy School District 20, has found a location.

An open house and information session will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the school's future home, 7899 Lexington Drive, near the intersection of Lexington Drive and Union Boulevard in Briargate.

The school would use 38,000 square feet of 76,000 available square feet next year and open with a target enrollment of 334 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

A grade would be added each year to 12th toward its goal of 1,268 students.

The learning format would be Core Knowledge curriculum, which emphasizes developing a firm grasp of literacy and math at a young age and building instruction from there.

Organizers submitted a charter application with D-20 last week. D-20 has one charter school system, The Classical Academy.
