The man who caused Sunday night's fatal crash at the Colorado 94 and Peyton Highway, then died when he crashed while fleeing in a stolen vehicle, has been identified as 21-year-old Juan A. Castillo-Cruz.

Castillo-Cruz collided with a car in which a husband and wife and their two children were returning home from church. Raul Cardoza, who was driving, was thrown from the car and killed. Cardoza's two daughters remain hospitalized; his wife, Claudia Cardoza was discharged Wednesday.

Seconds after the accident, Castillo-Cruz fled in the tan Land Rover of a passing motorist who had stopped to help.

After failing to negotiate a curve on Hanover Road near Old Pueblo Road, the suspect was ejected from the Land Rover as it rolled twice.

"Pending toxicology results, alcohol/drug involvement on the part of Mr. Castillo-Cruz is unknown and the result will not be in for several weeks," the state patrol said in a press release.
