An assailant shot a man in southeast Colorado Springs Wednesday night, law enforcement said.

Colorado Springs police responded to the shooting in the 1800 block of South Academy Boulevard around 6:49 p.m. Emergency responders took the 22-year-old man to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, police said.

Police did not provide any information about the shooter or whether there was a possible suspect.

Officer said there was no threat to the public but they did not specify why.
