An inmate at the El Paso County jail died Friday while in custody, the Sheriff's Office announced Sunday.
A sheriff's deputy found the woman unresponsive in her jail cell shortly after 5 p.m. and performed lifesaving measures until medical staff responded, according to a news release.
EMS and firefighters also rendered aid, but they were unable to save the inmate.
The coroner will release the inmate's name after performing an autopsy and notifying the woman's family.
