The Douglas County community will hold a fund-raising event next month to honor Deputy Zackari Parrish, who was shot and killed on Dec. 31.

Money raised from the Zackari Parrish 5K Run/Walk on Feb. 3 will go to the Parrish family and the Fallen Officers Fund.

The race replaces the annual Freeze Your Buns Off race organized by Stridemob, which usually is held the first weekend in February.

A $35 entry fee includes pancake breakfast, a longsleeve shirt and entrance to the Douglas County Lifestyle Expo from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the same day as the race at the Douglas County Events Center. Entry fee is $40 the day of the race.

All ages are welcome. Awards will be given to the top three females and males. Leashed animals are allowed during the race but not inside the event center.
