PARK COUNTY — A grass fire that prompted evacuations for a central Colorado subdivision has been contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire, reported west of Hartsel around 11:30 a.m. Sunday burned 7.8 acres south of Highway 24 and Trout Creek Summit, near Kaufman Ridge North.
It was reported as being 100 percent contained at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Park County officials had issued a mandatory evacuation order Sunday afternoon for the Ranch of the Rockies subdivision, which is about 75 miles west of Colorado Springs on the Park County border.
It was not immediately known how many people lived in the evacuation zone.
The fire is believed to be human caused.
