Constance Jones, a former superintendent of Pueblo City School District 60, has been hired as interim executive director of GOAL Academy High School, the state’s largest alternative-education charter school that is authorized to operate under Falcon School District 49.

She will have the job until the board begins a search process at the end of this school year for a permanent replacement for the former head of the 3,811-student high school, Richard Mestas.

He resigned last month after being placed on administrator leave during an unspecified internal investigation.

Jones implemented an academic improvement program that improved student performance at many Pueblo City schools.
