The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center recently received a $200,000 grant from History Colorado, a nonprofit, 21st century historical society and agency of Colorado's Department of Higher Education.
The state historical fund grant will go toward the FAC's exterior restoration of the 80-year-old building, including structural analysis of part of the foundation and masonry staircases and repairs to the balconies and windows. Work will most likely begin in summer and last through fall and isn't expected to affect visitors.
"There's no way we could do preservation care without their significant support," said Erin Hannan, the FAC's executive director of advancement.
"It's critical for treasures like ours around the state to pair with the historical fund on projects like these."
This is the fifth historical fund grant the museum has applied for and received.
