ASPEN — A recreational cyclist who died after a bicycle crash in the Aspen area has been identified as a 74-year-old man from New Orleans.

The Pitkin County coroner says Henry "Hank" Vosbein died after the crash on Sunday.

The sheriff's department says Vosbein was wearing a helmet.

Deputies say was descending Maroon Creek Road after riding his bike to the Maroon Bells area with friends and family.

Sheriff's deputy George Kremer tells the Aspen Daily News (http://tinyurl.com/om52yke ) Vosbein went off the road onto a pull-off covered with loose rock and lost control. Kremer says the cyclist was thrown forward into a meadow about 4 feet below.
