The Hayden Pass fire remains 60 percent contained and 16,559 acres in size, but firefighters continued Tuesday to attack the blaze.

A helicopter dropped 565 gallons of water on the fire after crews discovered "an area of heat within the Mosher Creek drainage approximately one-quarter mile inside the fire interior," according to the Hayden Pass fire Twitter account.

Firefighters are continuing to clear Rainbow Trail, and seeding has been done in areas where firefighters have cleared grass and brush when the fire was active.

Flash floods are being cited as a concern if it rains in the fire area.

The fire is expected to be fully contained by Oct. 1.
