BOULDER -- A 28-year-old man died Monday in Boulder Canyon after he fell an estimated 70 feet from atop the Boulderado rock formation while attempting to secure a rope for other climbers, Boulder emergency officials said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, fell from the popular climbing formation shortly after 3 p.m., said Sgt. Lance Enholm with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
The man landed on the roadway.
A hiker suffered serious injuries after falling about 30 feet in the Dream Canyon area, Enholm told the Daily Camera.
The 50-year-old man suffered compound fractures to his legs.
The third person required assistance after injuring a shoulder, Enholm said.
