The Colorado Department of Transportation plans to resurface and upgrade several bridges on Interstate 25 through south El Paso County.
Work will be done on five miles of I-25, between the Midway Interchange (Exit 119) and the Ray Nixon Power Plant (mile markers 119 — 124), including bridge deck repairs and sign replacements, according to a new release.
Drivers should anticipate single lane closures on northbound or southbound I-25 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. During work hours, the speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the project area. Deck repairs are taking place on the northbound and southbound bridges at Little Fountain Creek, Rock Creek, a couple of dry channels and at County Road 415 (Exit 122 — PPIR).
The south El Paso County part of the $5.6 million project is the first of two phases of roadwork.
The second will repair I-25 bridges through Colorado Springs later this month and completion is expected in November.
