Law enforcement is searching for a California woman suspected of killing her 7-year-old son who was last seen in Denver, the FBI Denver Division announced Monday.
Officials said 35-year-old Samantha Moreno Rodriguez is wanted for suspicion of murder in connection to the death of her son, 7-year-old Liam Husted, last month.
Husted was found dead on the morning of May 28 on a hiking trail in Mountain Springs near Las Vegas, Nevada. FBI Las Vegas worked to identify the body for over a week before announcing Husted as the victim on Monday.
Police have not released how Husted died but previously said it was clear he was murdered.
Rodriguez and Husted were last known to be living in San Jose, California; however, the pair left the state on May 24, officials said.
Rodriguez was last seen at a Denver hotel on May 31, driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber with California license plates with the number 6WLH211.
Anyone who sees Rodriguez or has any information is asked to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department or the FBI tip lines at 1-800-CALLFBI or tips.fbi.gov.
