The final steel beam was placed in the Colorado Springs Switchbacks' new downtown stadium during a Topping Off Ceremony, hosted by the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday, May 15, 2020. The $35 million downtown multi purpose outdoor stadium will seat 8,000 attendees, and will house the Colorado Springs Switchbacks soccer team. Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, Switchbacks owner Ed Ragain, Vice President of Operations at Weidner Apartment Homes Robert Carr, and Jim Johnson, CEO of GE Jonson Construction, made commemoration speeches, as the public viewed the event from their vehicles; honking their car horns in celebration.
