In just a few weeks, one of Colorado Springs must-attend galas of the year, the 2016 Fur Ball is being hosted by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR). The signature gala, presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, GE Johnson Construction Company and Petco Foundation, helps raise funds to benefit the nearly 50 homeless and abused animals that come through HSPPR’s doors every day.

The 19th Annual Fur Ball Gala takes place Saturday, April 30, at 6 p.m. at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, and this year’s theme is "Howlin Hot Night in Havana." Dust off your fedora, reserve your seat, and be carried away to old Havana. A sizzling night with cocktails and a gourmet dinner are combined with an evening of entertainment, amusement and wonderful company.

“Adoptable pets from HSPPR will be taking the stage for the famous ‘Pet Parade,’” said Katie McDevitt, Director of Communications at the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. “It’s always a furry, fun, and engaging part of the gala.”

The spirited live auction promises to add a little spice to the mix thanks to some fabulous packages available for guests to bid on. You won’t want to miss the silent auction either, offering even more chances to get your hands on something sensational while lending a hand for a great foundation.

Some of the extravagant auction items available this year include a six-night voyage for two aboard the Windstar “Dreams of Tahiti” Cruise, a six-night Howlin Hot Adventure in Havana for two, the chance to make your pet the HSPPR spokesdog or cat, along with many other sensational options. Go online to hsppr.org/furball for a list of items and for more information.

Just this year, a brand new item is only available through the live auction – a Puppy or Kitten Gram. “The winning bidder will get delivery of their choice, puppies or kittens, for a 30 minute playdate at the location of their choice,” said McDevitt.  This would be a great prize to share with co-workers, family, friends, or maybe show-and-tell at school!

HSPPR is looking forward to another sold-out event, so reserve your spot today!  Individual tickets are $185 and sponsored tables, with seating for 10 guests, are available too. The black-tie gala is best suited for guests 21 years of age and older, and includes complimentary valet parking.

If you’re interested in helping HSPPR continue to help animals in our community, but can’t attend the gala, you can always go online to HSPPR.org and donate.

Serving and saving pets in need as an independent, donor-funded nonprofit organization, HSPPR is not affiliated with any national establishments.  “Many people don’t realize that we’re independent,” said McDevitt.  “Because of that, every dollar raised stays right here in the Pikes Peak region to help save more animal lives.”
