Yoga Rocks the Park is coming to Colorado Springs for the first time.

The event began seven years ago in Denver when one yogi and more than two dozen of his friends took their practice out of the studio and into the park. Since then, YRP has taken up summer space in more than 15 locations around the country and one in Australia.

On select Saturdays and Sundays through the summer, giant groups of yoga lovers get together for a practice, live music and activities to keep kids occupied.

The first local YRP is Saturday, June 20, at Village Green Park. Eighteenth Element Yoga will host the event with music by Bhagavan Kirtan and Michael Reese.

Some of the proceeds of the summer-long event will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project.

The rest of the schedule looks like this:

July 18: Yoga Studio Satya, with music by Ryan Flores and Wayne Hammerstadt

Aug. 20: Hot on Yoga, with music by Jay on the Drums and Tricia Parish Band

Sept. 19: Free day with Pranava Yoga Center, with music by Austin Richman
