Seriously, step away from the shopping cart and the crazy hordes of people who want the latest Kindle on Black Friday, the deadliest shopping day of the year.
Step into the cool quiet of a forest instead.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Great Outdoors Colorado and the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office will offer free access to all 42 Colorado state parks on Friday. They've dubbed it "Fresh Air Friday."
GOCO will cover the cost of vehicle access to the parks so Colorado residents and visitors can wander freely and far, far away from the madding crowd.
The outdoor agencies join the likes of REI, who this year chose to close all 143 of its sporting goods and outdoor outlets across the country on Black Friday. They're paying almost 12,000 employees to go outside instead in the #optoutside campaign.
