A woman who was shot and killed over the weekend in east Colorado Springs was identified by police Wednesday as 21-year-old Brandie Preciado.

Police called Preciado’s death the 10th homicide this year in Colorado Springs, noting there were 12 homicides at this time last year. But the El Paso County Coroner’s Office said they could not confirm the name because they had not positively identified the woman found shot about 9:15 p.m. Sunday in the 5100 block of Airport Road, a spokeswoman said.

Friends and family were naming Preciado as the deceased online and two GoFundMe accounts had been set up in the woman’s name.

William Camacho Jr., 34, is being sought in the shooting that left Preciado dead and a man critically wounded, police said.

Camacho had been sentenced to prison until late 2018 for conspiracy to commit first-degree auto trespass and aggravated robbery, plus possession of contraband while in prison, said state Department of Corrections spokesman Mark Fairbairn.

He became eligible for parole Dec. 2, 2010, and was released on Dec. 3, 2012, when he began serving his five-year mandatory period of parole, Fairbairn said.

In May 2016, about four years after being released from prison, he was arrested by El Paso County sheriff's deputies and pleaded guilty in June to misdemeanor criminal mischief between $300 and $700. He was sentenced to probation.
