A man broke into a house on Colorado Springs' west side, brandished a knife and attacked a resident about 2:40 a.m. Monday, police said.

The man entered through an unlocked door in the 2400 block of West Monument Street, began waving a knife and assaulted a resident before fleeing, police said.
