An early morning apartment explosion in Manitou Springs on Friday is being blamed on hash oil manufacturing, police said.

The apartment's tenants, 23-year-old Audrey Horowitz and 18-year-old Michael Austin, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree arson, reckless endangerment and child abuse, Manitou Springs police said. Horowitz's 3-year-old daughter was in the apartment at the time of the 4:30 a.m. explosion, but she, along with her mother and Austin, escaped uninjured, police said.

The windows of the apartment at 337 Pilot Knob Ave. were blown out and inside, authorities found evidence of hash oil manufacturing, police said.

Horowitz and Austin remained in the El Paso County jail Friday evening.

The blast follows a suspected hash oil explosion in an apartment in northern Colorado Springs Wednesday night, the third in the region linked to hash oil manufacturing since December.
