Monday's traffic: Northbound I-25 reopened at Fountain

One person was taken to the hospital Monday following a reported shooting near the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The person's condition was not known, said police Lt. Mary Rosenoff. The person's identity was not released.

Initial information points to a domestic disturbance that escalated, Rosenoff said.

Police were called to the 300 block of North Institute Street, near the U.S. Olympic Training Center, about 6 a.m. for a domestic disturbance when they were notified about possible shots fired, Rosenoff said. An injured person found there was taken to the hospital, but police did not confirm if the person had been shot.

Gazette news partner KKTV reported police on scene told them a man shot himself when authorities showed up to investigate the dispute. The woman with whom the man was reportedly fighting escaped, KKTV said.

Police told KKTV the man's wound was life-threatening.

Rosenoff declined to confirm the information to The Gazette, saying updates may come once the investigation is complete.
