Authorities are looking for the male driver in a single-vehicle crash that that left his passenger seriously injured Tuesday night.

According to state troopers, around 9 p.m. , a blue and silver 1984 Toyota pickup truck with California license plates was traveling north on Interstate 25 near milepost 122 when the driver entered the center median, overturned, and came to rest on top of a guardrail on the southbound side of the highway.

The truck's passenger was seriously injured in the wreck, state troopers said.

As witnesses stopped to help, the driver fled the scene. Authorities said the man tried to catch a ride with witnesses, and may  have hitchhiked or been picked up in the area.

State troopers are currently investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the crash.
