Two El Paso County residents died Monday evening when a speeding car slammed into an oncoming truck south of Franktown, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Stephen Edwards, 70, of Peyton was killed when the Audi S5 he was driving on Colorado 83 crossed into the southbound lanes, hitting a Chevy Tahoe, said trooper Nate Reid, a patrol spokesman.

Jeffrey Lobato, 47, a Colorado Springs resident who was driving the Tahoe, also died.

According to the Doherty High School website, Lobato was an assistant coach for the school's varsity football team.

His wife, Christine Lobato, 47, and Jaylin Lobato, 18, were taken to Parker Adventist Hospital with serious injuries, Reid said.

Jaylin Lobato is a soccer player at Doherty.

A 15-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was taken to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Reid said.
