A Colorado Springs student was arrested after police say she attacked her teacher Thursday morning.

Angelina Chavez, an 18-year-old Sierra High School student, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Chavez entered the classroom about 11:30 a.m. to get a jacket from another student while the teacher was trying to administer a test, police said. The teacher, whose name was not released, tried to prevent Chavez from entering the classroom, but Chavez allegedly knocked the teacher to the ground and repeatedly punched her.

Several students tried to pull Chavez off the teacher, who had bruises on her forehead.
