A burglary suspect was shot by Colorado Springs police before he was taken into custody following an hours-long manhunt Friday, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Thirty-one-year-old Christopher Lee Liles, who is suspected in several burglaries in the Palmer Lake area, was shot in the 2200 block of Lazy R Lane, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Natalie Sosa.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting, Sosa said. Details about Liles’ condition were not available Saturday morning.
Colorado Springs police were assisting the sheriff’s office in the search.
Sheriff's officials said deputies first encountered Liles while searching a residence in the 5000 block of Whip Trail.
Liles escaped in a stolen vehicle, prompting a vehicle chase on Constitution Avenue and North Murray Boulevard before he crashed and ran away on foot, the sheriff's office said.
No further details were available at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
