Colorado Springs-based Century Casinos Inc. announced Monday it completed its $12.3 million purchase of the Apex Casino in the Edmonton, Alberta, area, on Saturday. The casino in St. Albert, northwest of Edmonton has 382 slot machines and 11 table games.

Century last month announced it has been named the successful applicant for a racetrack and casino in Edmonton. The project has an estimated cost of $50 million and would open in 2018. Century also owns a casino and racetrack in Calgary, an off-track betting network, casinos in Cripple Creek and Central City, two-thirds of nine casinos in Poland and 15 casinos aboard cruise ships.
