ARVADA — Four teenagers have been charged with setting off a chlorine bomb that injured a suburban Denver police officer and a civilian.

Jefferson County prosecutors said Monday the four were charged with possession of a chemical, biological or radiological weapon in connection with the April 7 incident in Arvada.

Authorities say the officer was clearing debris from a street when smoke began began billowing from a plastic bottle. The officer lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for chlorine poisoning and released.

The civilian was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Their names weren't released.

The suspects were identified as Gavin Dawson, Isaac Koch, Maxwell McCann and Braiden Ulmer, all 19. No phone numbers could be found for them.

An unidentified juvenile was also arrested.
