A man wielding a handgun tried to rob a convenience store early Friday morning, but left without any cash.

The attempted robbery happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. when a man pulled a handgun on the clerk at Western Convenience, 227 W. Fillmore St. and demanded cash.

No arrests have been made, and officers are still trying to determine why the armed man fled, said Colorado Springs police Sgt. Darrin Abbink.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 444-7000.
