The World Arena is putting the final touches on an agreement with Anschutz Entertainment Group to bring top entertainment and sporting events to Colorado Springs.

"We're close to finalizing a 10-year venue support service agreement," said Dot Lischick, general manager of World Arena.

Bob Newman, president of AEG Facilities, said a venue support service agreement is "a program we have that allows us to activate all of AEG's resources in a very tailored basis at various arenas around the world. We look at bringing greater depth and variety of sports and entertainment to the Colorado Springs area."

AEG owns, operates and consults with more than 100 entertainment venues around the world. The subsidiary of the Anschutz Corp. is affiliated with companies such as Staples Center in Los Angeles, Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., and The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Staffing at World Arena will remain the same, Lischick said.

AEG is owned by the Denver-based Anschutz Corp., whose Clarity Media Group owns The Gazette.
