A woman originally bound for El Paso County's detox facility was booked into the county's jail after Colorado Springs police say she kicked an officer.

Tiffany Berndt, 34, was arrested shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of second degree assault on a peace officer, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers decided to take her to the detox facility after being called to a domestic dispute at a motel in the 4300 block of N. Nevada Avenue, police said. When officers put her in a police cruiser, she allegedly began kicking the rear door.

When an officer approached, she allegedly kicked him multiple times in the lower abdomen, police said.
